Telogen Effluvium is a hair loss condition occurs mainly in women and is usually caused by a temporary disturbance to the hair cycle causing the growing (anagen) hairs to prematurely enter the resting (telogen) phase of the hair cycle. Telogen effluvium usually presents itself as excessive shedding. However, it can also manifest itself with a normal amount of hair loss leading to gradual thinning.
Telogen Effluvium Causes:
These disturbances to the hair cycle could be caused by a multitude of factors, such as stress, poor diet, postpartum, general health problems, certain medications, and so on.
Telogen Effluvium Treatment:
Treatment for telogen effluvium depends on why the individual is losing his or her hair. Once the causes for the hair loss have been ascertained and corrected, the hair cycle should normalize and the hair usually re-grows back to its previous thickness.
