Lack of FDA regulations found in shampoo products questions its safety
They say a woman's hair is her crowning glory, but, the ingredients of your shampoo and conditioner may be causing more harm than good.
But how do you know if your hair products are going to make your hair sleek, shiny, and smooth, or cause it to dry and break off.
Chelsea Ferguson, a senior stylist of Cutting Loose Salon in in Sarasota said people should purchase hair products with caution, and beware of deeply discounted brands, internet buys and infomercials.
"Ask your stylist what you should use for your hair," Said Fergusen.
Products that you can only purchase at a salon, explained Ferguson are held to a higher standard. "Everyone's hair is different and a professional stylist will direct you to what's best."
The U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA) doesn't have authority over hair and cosmetic products, but the The Feinstein-Collins Bill aims to give the FDA authority over hair care products and cosmetics.
