![]() What Are My Hair Loss Treatment Options? By Patti Wood The most important thing to do before buying lotions and potions online or at drug stores is to visit your doctor, and then visit a trichologist. Many people don’t know what a trichologist is. A trichologist is a trained professional that scientifically studies hair loss and scalp disorders. They fill the large gap between dermatologists and hairdressers. Trichologist’s do not, in any way, medically treat patients; they work closely with your doctor. Treatment 1: A trichologist’s approach is holistic and usually recommends diet, exercise, and nutritional supplements. Hair and scalp treatments also could include the use of Minoxidil, and could include recommending a Doctor for Medication. Treatment 2: LLLT, or low light laser therapy, is huge in hair regrowth. There is so much information and benefits now on LLLT.
What should you expect with your first appointment? Your first appointment should be gathering information, filling out a questionnaire for past and present conditions that could contribute to hair loss. Only after you and your trichologist have gone over blood work should you proceed with a plan. There are many different protocol and treatments for hair loss because there are many causes of hair loss. One of the most important factors is, you must be willing to follow through on a consistent plan. There is no quick fix, and no magic pill when it comes to re-growing hair. If you have a living follicle then you can grow hair. If your follicles are dead don’t let anyone tell you they can grow hair. Do insurance companies cover trichology treatment? No, most insurance companies will not cover blood work or doctor visits for hair loss. If you or someone you know suffers from hair loss, have them come see us for a free consultation. There are no commitments, we want you to feel 100% comfortable in our services and expertise. For more information and tips, see our Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest pages. - Patti Wood, WTS
