![]() Earlier this year, a client came to me and asked me to shave her head. She had cancer and had started chemotherapy. My client’s hair was long and very thick. She said she could not stand having it all over her pillow and falling in her plate while she was eating. I understood completely. I hear this all the time with clients going through chemotherapy. It’s a very emotional time, and so I turned her away from the mirror and shaved her head. She bought a scarf to cover her head to go home. After the chemo was over, she called again and wanted me to start Trichology treatments on her. A treatment consists of: · A scalp mask under a steamer
· A 10 min scalp massage · Infra-red lights for 5 minutes · A shampoo for the scalp · Liquid Niacin · The final treatment is 20 minutes under a low level light laser. This laser helps with producing energy and lowers inflammation. My client also takes the recommend supplements. All the above creates more blood flow and produces energy cells. We are now going into fifth month of treatments and her hair is healthy and longer than it would have been without the treatments. How do I know this? The laser cap sits like a ball cap on the head. It leaves an area around the ears and the back of the head uncovered. You can see the difference in the hair length, texture and condition from areas that are not covered. Typically when hair returns from chemotherapy it is very fine hairs and sometimes those hairs fall out before healthy hairs come in. We didn’t see that with her new hair. It came in healthy from the start and is growing at rapid rate. We are both thrilled with the progress of her new hair. My client’s hair would have come back on its own, but not at the speed and condition it is with treatments. If you or someone you know suffers from hair loss, call us for a free consultation today.
