The Best Products For Dry Hair
By Patti Wood
Why is the hair dry? Is it the normal texture of the hair? Is it from too much heat from hair dryers, curling irons, and flat irons? Did you get a bad highlight, color, or perm? The answer to the above questions, is no. What really matters is when you do all the above. That’s when you will have a big problem!
Our Cause and Solution Breakdown:
Cause: If the hair is dry naturally, use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.
Solution: A few of my favorites are Redken All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner, and Pureology Hydrating. Both have a wonderful deep conditioning mask.
Cause: Dry hair lacks moisture.
Solution: I have dry frizzy hair. I love, love, love, the Brazilian Blowout line. I use the Brazilian Blowout Treatment every four to five months. For daily conditioning, I use the Brazilian Blowout shampoo and mask, for a smooth look I use the Smoothing Serum every other day, before I blow out my hair. This cuts drying time in half and dull hair is so shiny.
Cause: If the hair is chemically damaged then hair treatment in salon and home care is a must.
Solution: Protein and moisturizers are needed. Steam heat is also good to open the cuticle and get better penetration. Redken and Purerology have great treatments for salon and home use. Shine serums are good to but are only cosmetic and do not repair damage, but help with dry hair.
There are a lot of good products out there, ask your stylist if they have a sample so you can see what works with your hair. I tell my guests when they purchase a product, if they are not completely happy with it, return it to the salon and I will replace it with something else. It is a guarantee that is a win-win. When you look good I look good.
